Romi Savova is Chief Executive of PensionBee, the leading digital pension provider in the UK. Prior to PensionBee, Romi served as the Head of Corporate Development for Credit Benchmark, an Index Ventures portfolio firm.
She is a graduate of Harvard Business School, holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics, International Studies from Emory University and has worked at Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley and in numerous roles at Credit Benchmark.
BEST PIECE OF ADVICE?
Validate as much as you can to get comfort in your rational mind. Once you have that comfort, take the leap. Before setting up PensionBee, I wondered a lot about whether I should take the leap. I’d had a pretty ‘safe’ background until that point; I studied at well-known universities and worked for large companies but I’ve always been someone who likes to make change. The opportunity to do that really called out to me.
WHAT DOES BEING SELECTED FOR THE SFXV MEAN TO YOU?
It’s great to be part of a group of women recognised for doing things differently – valued for more than financial success alone. It is exciting as it reflects the direction the world is moving in: acknowledging that women approach creation differently and can be fulfilled by many things.
Today, businesses are broad entities with many stakeholders. Founders should ask themselves whether their business is a good thing for all stakeholders. If your stakeholders want you to succeed, you have a much better chance of doing so.
