Stonehage Fleming hosts Envision charity in London
Supporting local communities is an integral part of securing Stonehage Fleming’s own legacy as a business, according to Guy Hudson, Stonehage Fleming’s Head of Group Marketing and Communications.
“It is a central tenet of our approach to working with clients that a family’s social, intellectual and cultural capital are as important to its long-term, intergenerational health as its financial capital,” he told guests at an event in our London offices last week to thank supporters of a UK charity. Envision collaborates with young people from less-advantaged backgrounds to help them build the essential skills and confidence proven to support their education, employment and future wellbeing. working across Bristol, Birmingham, the Black Country and London.
“The four pillars is also a useful lens through which to consider the broader contribution of our own business. For us, it is really important to be able to demonstrate our social capital through engaging with local communities.”
Stonehage Fleming was named Envision’s Business Partner of the Year in 2019 and Mentor Team of the Year, in 2020. More than 30 staff members in London volunteered on Envision’s programme, working with young people from local schools to help equip them with some of the life skills required for a successful life in the workplace.
“Like Stonehage Fleming, Envision is focused on supporting the next generation,” said Guy, recalling a moving moment at a previous event when a team of young mentees presented their Community Challenge fundraising pitch to Stonehage Fleming staff.
“They were about 14 or 15 years old at the time and I remember them so well; this group of young people had an array of 100 or so seasoned investment and advisory professionals eating out of their hands. It was an extraordinarily impressive display and I can say with real confidence that their fundraising was off the charts that day We are delighted to be able to continue to support Envision in their work today.”
Guy was speaking to a group of the ‘Envisionaries’, a group who have lent their support to Envision on a multi-year basis.
