Stonehage Fleming were delighted to be recognised as Business Partner of the Year at Envision’s 2019 Graduation Celebration at City Hall. This year, six colleagues from across the firm came together and volunteered their time as mentors with Envision, a charity based in London, Birmingham and Bristol. During the 13-week programme, fortnightly group sessions were hosted at the office where business mentors facilitated practical learning sessions with the students on soft skills such as communication, teamwork and determination.
Envision are a social mobility charity who aim to develop young people’s employability through social action. We have been business partners of Envision since 2017, working with young people from local academies and comprehensive schools to help them with community projects while developing key life skills.
Kate Munday, group head of HR said “Community engagement is a vital part of our Social Capital and demonstrates our commitment to the society in which we operate. Helping young people develop skills such as creative thinking, team work and boosting their confidence is an important stepping stone towards building a successful future for them as adults. Our business mentors have found the experience hugely rewarding.”
Envision graduate and Youth Trustee Cynthia Anyadi added “Encouragement from people outside your school network has such an impact on your self-efficacy. It gives you the confidence to apply to your first choice of university or a competitive internship and believe you have a chance. It is about giving young people an opportunity and a level playing field.”
